I was disappointed with our recent visit to the spread eagled hotel. We went for Sunday lunch and the atmosphere was very formal and stiff, I felt like I needed to whisper so as not to disturb other diners and kept telling my children to 'ssshhhhh'! Not very relaxed at all. It being Sunday lunch I ordered the Roast Beef which was very disappointing, the beef was undercooked and the vegetables quite limp. Even the Yorkshire pudding was rather chewy. My husband's chicken looked much more appealing and he told me he enjoyed it. Price wise it was ok but £4. 80 for a pint of soda and lime is a bit of a rip off! The one aspect that was very good was the waiting staff, they were all very attentive and polite, if a bit formal. Well we shan't be going back I'm afraid and nor would I recommend it to others.
